The European Poker Tour - Season 2 - Internet Poker

Season 2 of the European Poker Tour started in September 2005 at the Barcelona Casino and finished in March 2006 with the grand final event being held at the Monte Carlo Hotel and Resort in Monte Carlo.

The action started on the 9th of September with the main event No-Limit Hold'em being held on the 16th. The buy-in for the main event was 4,000 Euros plus an additional 200 Euros which totaled the prize fund to 1,300,000 Euros with 325 entrants poised to get there hands on it. After day 1 at the tables in this event only 43 players were left including Gus Hansen who was the chip leader. On the final day it was not Gus Hansen who triumphed but Frenchman Jan Boubli came out on top winning 416,000 Euros from the prize fund. Other winners at the Barcelona Casino include Woody Deck from Vilnius, NV, Lithuania finishing first in the No-Limit Hold'em 2,500 Euro event winning 60,000, Enrigue Perez (Spain) in the Satellite No-Limit Hold'em 200 Euro buy-in event winning 20,150 Euros, Stephen Pearce (Birmingham, United Kingdom) winning 52,300 Euros in the No-Limit Hold'em 1,000 Euro buy-in event, Martin Wendt (Denmark) winning 54,300 Euros in the Pot-Limit Hold'em 500 Euro buy-in, Fuat Can (Sweden) winning 67,600 in the Pot-Limit Hold'em 300 Euro buy-in, Sebastian Riviere (Sweden) winning 77,150 Euros in the No Limit Hold'em 500 Euro buy-in and Maxim Brandwain (Belgium) winning 105,000 Euros in the No Limit Hold'em 1,000 Euro buy-in event.

The next action in the EPT was the Grosvenor Poker Masters held at the Grosvenor Victoria Casino from the 26th of September to the 2nd of October starting with the No Limit Hold'em with buy in of £1,000+£35 which was won by L. Patten (United Kingdom) winning £50,000. The Pot- Limit Hold'em Hi/Lo buy-In £250 + £25, was the next event held with the winner Ben Grundy (United Kingdom) winning £13,680, Bhupinder Kohli (United Kingdom) won £29,564 in the Pot Limit Hold'em buy-in £200+£20, Lalit Khajuria (London, United Kingdom) won £37,500 in the Pot-Limit Hold'em £1,000 + £35 buy-in event. On September 30th the No-Limit Hold'em main event begins with 118 entrants and a prize pool of £354,000 from the £3,000 + £50 buy-ins, the action lasts for three days before Mark Teltscher (London, United Kingdom) wins the £280,000 first prize. The final event on the 2nd of October was the No Limit Hold'em £300 + £30 buy-in event won by Jan Lungberg (Sweden) leaving with winnings of £14,098.

The EPT Baden Classic began on the 4th of October till the 8th at the Casinos Austria Baden starting with the No-Limit Hold'em 4,000+190 Euros buy-in with 180 entrants making the prize pool 684,000 Euros, the final was held on the 6th of October with Patrik Antonius (Helsinki, Finland) coming out on top winning 218,880 Euros. The main event was the 16th European 7-Card Stud Championships with 80 entrants all battling it out in the 300 Euro buy-in event to make it to the 6,750 Euro buy-in Super final with a prize pool of 540,000 Euros, the ultimate winner in the 7-Card Stud being Jan Pedersen winning 107,787 Euros.

At the EPT in Dublin held at the Merrion Square Club beginning on the 27th of October and finished on the 30th October started with the No-Limit Hold'em 400+40 Euro buy-in event won by Anders Berg (Oslo, Norway) winning a total of 25,000 Euros. the next event was the Pot-Limit Omaha 500 + 50 Euro buy-in with Bao Hoang (Australia) winning 33,400 Euros, the No Limit Hold'em 100+10 Euro buy-in event was won by Irishman Damien Fitzpatrick who won a total of 4,650 Euros, the No Limit Hold'em 4,000 + 200 Euro buy-in, Irish Masters was won by Mats Gavatin (Lidingo, Sweden) winning 317,000 Euros, the final event the No Limit Hold'em 150+ 15 Euro buy-in event was won by Tom Gibson (Ireland) winning 23,800 Euros.

The Danish Open held at the Casino Copenhagen began on the 19th of January until the 22nd 2006 with the first event the No Limit Hold'em 400+40 Euro buy-in event being won by Michael Larsen taking home 18,530 Euros, the Pot Limit Omaha 670 +40 Euro buy-in event was won by Kurt Klifoth winning 20,293 Euro, the main event No Limit Hold'em 4,000 Euro buy-in event was finally won after three day eliminations by Mads Andersen (Copenhagen, Denmark) winning 341,000 Euros and the last event to take place was the No Limit Hold'em 1,340 Euro buy-in event which was won by Andreas Fluri (Switzerland) taking home 58,689 Euros.

The French open held at the Casino Barriere started on the 8th of February to the 11th, with the first of two events, the No Limit Hold'em 4000 Euro event taking place over three days with the final began held on the fourth day begin won by Mats Iremark (Sweden) winning 480,000 Euros from the 1,600,800 Euro prize pool. The second event the No Limit Hold'em 500+ 50 Euro buy-in event was won by Aleksander Stulli (Austria) winning 70,310 Euro.

The grand final at the Monte Carlo Hotel and Resort in Monte Carlo which started on the 7th or March till the 11th lasted a total of four days with the final being held on the fifth day with Jeff Williams (San Francisco, USA) winning the 900,000 Euro prize in the No Limit Hold'em 10,000 Euro buy-in event which made the prize pool 2,980,000 Euro with Arshad Hussain AKA "Mad" (Accrington, United Kingdom) finishing in second place winning 492,000 Euros and Alexander Strandli (Norway) finishing third winning 251,000 Euros.
